My Approach

I believe that counselling can give you the space to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions, and the clarity to make any changes you may feel you need.

I have special interest in working with clients who have experienced trauma from my experience as a rape and sexual abuse counsellor.  I understand the coping mechanisms that many people adopt after traumatic events, that may have helped protect you at the time.

These can include alcohol abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, low self-esteem, poor sleeping patterns, intimacy issues, feelings of shame, flashbacks and dissociation.

I can give you the time and space to safely talk about, and come to terms with, any of your emotional issues.  Once you realise the influence that these coping mechanisms may hold over you, you can work towards taking control of them, and as a result find the way to empower yourself.

I work with clients on a long or short term basis depending on your needs.

I'm a registered member of the BACP and am qualified and insured to work with adults, both face-to-face and online.
